Some bicycles are equipped with fenders to prevent spray off of the tires from wetting the rider or the bicycle. There are many types of fenders, so apply the instructions that match your bicycle. Read the Warning about Mechanical Work before performing any service work on your bicycle.
Strutless fenders (Figure 1) allow you to remove them be flipping the black quick-release lever, and sliding off the bracket. To install, simply slide the fender back onto the bracket, and throw the quick-release lever to the closed position.

Once a month, make sure all the fasteners holding the fenders are tight. Check the bolts holding the fenders to the frame and fork at the brake, and also any fasteners holding fender struts or wires to the frame.
Some fenders are held in place by struts, pairs of thin wires reaching from the frame or fork to the fender from both sides of the bicycle. With this type of fender, the fender can be centered by loosening the fastener on the strut at the fender, sliding the fender up or down the strut, and re-tightening.
For strutless fenders (Figure 1) there are no struts. You can align the fender by gently bending the mounting plate.
