Chapter 2: Maintenance Schedule

This maintenance schedule is based on normal usage. If you ride your bicycle more than average, or in rain or snow, service your bicycle more often than the schedule suggests. If any part appears to be malfunctioning, inspect and service it immediately or consult your Trek dealer.

Before Every ride

· Check that your wheels are straight

· Check your tire inflation

· Inspect your tires for wear or damage

· Check your brakes

· Check attachment of both bolt-on wheels

· Check your handlebar

· Check your stem

· Check your chain tension

· Check your frame, fork, and components

Weekly

Wipe off your bicycle with a damp cloth

Check for loose spokes

Monthly

Check the attachment of the handlebar and stem

Check the attachment of the seat and seatpost

Check the cassette or rear cog

Check, clean, and lubricate the chain

Inspect shift cables for wear

Check the operation of the shifters

Inspect and lubricate derailleurs

Check headset bearing adjustment

Check brake cables

Check brake pads

Check brake bolts

Check wheel bearing adjustment

Inspect and lubricate brake calipers.

Every 3 Months

Clean and polish finish

Check the pedals

Check the crankset

Check the bottom bracket

Inspect and lubricate brake levers

Inspect reflectors

Every year

Check for updated owner's information

Lubricate handlebar stem

Lubricate seatpost

Re-grease pedal threads and bearings

Re-grease bottom bracket bearings

Re-grease wheel bearings

Re-grease headset bearings

Lubricate threads on locking knob of folding tongue on trailer-bike

Lubricate locking quick-release of the folding mechanism on trailer-bike
