Chapter 1: Guide to safe On- and off-road operation

Trailer-bike Riding Instructions

Before riding or pulling your trailer-bike, read the Trailer-bike Hitch Installation instructions and Trailer-bike Connection instructions. Before riding with the trailer-bike, read at least Chapter 1 of the owner's manual and also these instructions.

Riding with the trailer-bike

The trailer-bike works like a trailer behind the lead bicycle and does not follow the same path (Figure 1). Do not attempt tight turns which might allow the trailer-bike to contact objects to the side of the lead bicycle’s path. Avoid narrow areas where steering between obstacles is required. These are just a few of the maneuvers which could cause problems for either rider.

The added weight of the trailer-bike increases speed on descents. In addition, there may be an increase in the distance required for stopping. When pulling a trailer-bike, ride more conservatively, slowly and carefully. Do not exceed 15 MPH (24 K.P. H.).

The lead rider is immediately in front of the trailer-bike, so the trailer-bike rider does not have a clear view of the road. For this reason, the lead rider should avoid road hazards and bumps like potholes. Good communication between riders is important for fun and safety. Verbally warn the trailer-bike rider of changes in the road, or expected turns.

Make sure the trailer-bike rider does not wear loose clothes or other accessories which could contact the trailer-bike rear wheel.
